the wandering houstonian is idle

At the beginning of the year, I had these things called resolutions (have you heard of them?!), where I promised myself I would work out 4-5 times a week, keep a gratitude journal, etc. One of the other things on my list was this blog, and I hoped to have at least 1-2 posts a month.

Since the beginning of May, I have been studying for my CPA exams. I’m about to take my third one in a few days. Since beginning the studying process, I have not been feeling inspired to blog. I was recently hanging out with my friend Jackie, telling her how I have been feeling very uninspired and cooped up, and she joked, “the Wandering Houstonian is idle!”

I turned to my camera roll to find some events/happenings/things that have occurred over the past few months since I last posted.

Georgia and I got a foster dog back in May, and he was adopted in mid-June by a forever home! His name was BooBoo (I know!!!), and he was the sweetest senior dog. He had more health issues than I have fingers and toes, but somehow someone still wanted him <3 He was fantastic at just laying and sleeping all day long. A perfect CPA study companion! And a couch hog.

Our last day together back in June :’)

It’s been over a month since BooBoo was adopted, and his owner sent us fantastic photos of him hanging out at the beach with her. It seems they are getting along well!

I have been trying to combat the stir-craziness by embracing the Houston summer and going on long walks. Sometimes I’m lucky to have a friend join!

I have not been lacking in the culinary department. Jake’s birthday was back in June, and we had an eventful day of eating. So eventful that I’m still thinking about it in August, haha. We ordered the high tea package from McHugh Tea, and it was ADORABLE!

Later in the day, I made some halloumi tacos with an aji verde sauce for dinner, and they turned out great. I definitely recommend this recipe. Perfect for summer!

As I’m winding down my CPA-oriented summer (only one more left after this next one – hopefully!), I am living back at home for the next month before I do my move to Connecticut (see my blog bio if you didn’t know I was moving). Jake already is up there, and I sent about 80% of my belongings with him in a Penske truck last week. Can you believe he drove this thing all the way up there?! That means I only have to drive my car up , as all my furniture is already there. I know – I lucked out. Thanks Jake!!!

THE FINAL PRODUCT!!!

Shoutout to Georgia as well for helping Tetris pack this whole truck while Jake and I carried stuff out! It sped up the process so much. And of course it was raining because it’s Houston! Also, Jake is okay! So many people have asked about his leg and wrist when I show them these photos. He has some injuries that are mostly healed. Not ideal for moving :/ But he made it!

I hope you all are doing okay and staying safe. I very much look forward to when I can see you all in person again <3 take care xo.
