We’re moving to Brooklyn!

This year has been a whirlwind. I can’t believe it’s already March 2022. I had my accounting busy season, followed by a 26 hour road trip of my car to Texas and signed a lease on an apartment in Brooklyn for this month. Right now, we’re split between the CT and Brooklyn place, with both apartments looking like a total wreck. The full move is happening next weekend, and I am so excited!

There have been many highlights so far this year, and I’ll highlight a few below.

The first snow in 2022! There haven’t been many snow storms this year (climate change…) but this one sure was pretty. Featuring my friends’ dogs.

I also made it through another accounting busy season! I really have no interesting photos from that, just lots of selfies of me at my computer looking very tired.

Since we’re moving to Brooklyn, it’s a bit harder to have cars. Jake and I both had cars here in CT, which never even really proved to be that necessary with this whole work from home thing. So, we decided to keep one car up here, and I drove my car back to Texas a couple weeks ago. Jake tagged along, and we made a little trip out of it, stopping in Nashville (shoutout to Lindsey for many good recs) and visiting my brother and Jake’s family in Texas. It was nice and relaxing (even the driving part honestly)!

We have been trying to slowly move in some things to the new place to make the big move next weekend a bit less painful. This past weekend, Jake and I drove from CT to our new place (it’s only about a 45 minute drive) and unloaded a lot of the kitchen things. I LOVED the new place, and I can’t wait for us to get it all set up.

Lately, with all my new found free time outside of work, I’ve been reading Anxious People by Fredrik Backman, and also listening to the podcast “Even the Rich,” which has mini series on celebrities. It’s been really interesting to listen to, since a lot of times I realize I have a pre-conception of the celebrity because of how they were portrayed by the media in the mid-2000s, but now reflecting back on it, the way they were treated by the media was problematic and wouldn’t fly under the radar as much in 2022. On our drive down to Texas, we listened to all of “Homecoming” (Jackie and I had listened to this on the drive up to CT actually) and “The Habitat.” If anyone has any podcast recommendations, please let me know – they have been what I listen to while packing up boxes.

The view from the roof of our new place!

Thanks for reading xo.
